A local schoolboy helped launch the Lightwater Valley Challenge this week and is now calling on runners and people keen to get fit in the new year to sign up.
Eleven-year-old Samuel Maddison, from North Stainley, pledged to keep up his new year’s resolution to run more in 2013 by signing up to the third Lightwater Valley Challenge.
Keen runner Samuel started his training for the March challenge at the Yorkshire Cross Country Champions staged earlier this month – also at the Valley – where he got to meet his Olympic hero Jonathan Brownlee.
Race director Andrea Mansfield said: “This is a perfect time to achieve your new year’s resolution to get fit and use this run as a target.
“If you are interested in assisting with sponsorship we would love to hear from you.”
Entries are now open for the challenge, a local multi-terrain 10K race and 3k fun run, to be held on March 17.
Andrea added that the aim of the annual run is to provide an interesting and fun challenge and to raise funds for two charities, North Stainley CE Primary School and British Limbless Ex-Service Men’s Association (BLESMA).
Application forms for the challenge are now available to download from:
