A Ripon woman and her flat coated retriever showed every dog does have its day after walking away with a top prize at Crufts.

Six-year-old Bjorn was one of more than 25,000 dogs taking centre stage at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre for the popular annual dog show, where Bjorn and his owner Rosalie Brady fought off competition to scoop the coveted Best of Breed prize.

Proud 68-year-old Mrs Brady told the Gazette: “I have been coming to Crufts for more years than I can remember – I think about 50 in total.

“I won my first Best of Breed when I was still at school but it is still tremendous to pick one up with Bjorn this time around.

“He is such a great dog.”

Mrs Brady added: “Crufts is truly the pinnacle of the dog shows.

“It is such a great event so to win here is always special.”
