Retro clothes store hopes to tempt shoppers to spend
NOSTALGIC fashions and timeless classics have appeared in Knaresborough with charity shop Sue Ryder Care unveiling its new 'vintage and retro' room.
After a mini-refit, the Castlegate shop now has an exclusive range of donated ‘vintage and retro’ clothing.
All money raised through the sale of items will help Sue Ryder Care continue to provide quality care for people living with end-of-life and long-term conditions including cancer, stroke, brain injury, multiple sclerosis and Huntington’s disease.
Theresa Bailey, retail marketing manager at Sue Ryder Care, said: “We opened our first dedicated ‘vintage and retro’ shop at the beginning of this year and it is proving to be very successful.
“To build on this success, we are now opening further shops including this one in Knaresborough.
“Focusing on specialist product lines gives people what they want and helps raise funds to support our health and social care in communities across the UK.”
Residents are welcome to call in and hunt out a bargain and suitable, unwanted, quality items can be donated rather than send them to landfill.
The shop is also on the look out for anyone interested in volunteering and developing experience in the retail sector.
Sue Moorby, business manager for the area, said: “ We hope the community will support our work.
“Of course, we want people to find quality, value-for-money clothing but we also want donations of the best clothes people no longer wear – we want everyone to bring us the best retro and vintage that’s hiding in their wardrobes!”
