Jelly bean mosaic of the Queen to go on display
A MOSAIC of the Queen made from thousands of jelly beans is going on display in a Masham sweet shop.
The artwork was loaned to Bah Humbugs, on Market Place, by American sweet manufacturer Jelly Belly to help the business mark the launch of its new premises in the town and will be on display throughout the Easter holidays.
"It's an exclusive piece of artwork and I'm really privileged to be able to look after it," said shop owner Lucy Scott Paul, who started the business five years ago.
The mosaic was commissioned by Jelly Belly – a popular jelly bean brand in the USA with 50 different flavours – to celebrate the Queen's golden jubilee in 2002 and has been displayed previously at top London stores Harrods and Selfridges.
Bah Humbugs moved four doors up to its new premises on Market Place in September and Miss Scott Paul said she has just completed the finishing touches to the store.
To celebrate the launch of the new premises, Bah Humbugs is running a competition with several prizes on offer.
All people have to do is complete a form at the shop guessing how many jelly beans make up the mosaic. The person whose guess is closest to the correct answer will win first prize of a box containing all 50 flavours of the Jelly Belly beans.
