Inspirational artist wins praise from best-selling author
A KNARESBOROUGH man has been highly commended in the Mervyn Peake Award for Art.
The awards celebrate the creativity of people with Parkinson’s in the categories of art, poetry and photography and are organised by Parkinson’s UK and the Peake family, in memory of the late illustrator, writer and poet Mervyn Peake who had Parkinson's.
‘Chocolat’ author, Joanne Harris presented Stuart Weller with a certificate for his work of art “To everyone a different reality” at the London ceremony.
Joanne Harris said: “Art is about struggling through various obstacles, and there is no worth in any kind of creativity unless you have to struggle through something. All the people who have entered the awards are inspirational people and should see themselves as that.”
