Helping hand for feathered friends
PUPILS at North Stainley have been helping build more homes for the village's bird population.
Volunteers from the nearby High Batts Nature Reserve visited the primary school to help the children make bird boxes to go up on the recreation ground.
It forms part of work being undertaken by the North Stainley Sport and Recreation Trust to create new habitats in the village for wildlife.
The project is being funded by Natural England through Defra's Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund, with the money going towards the purchase of bird boxes for swifts, planting around the new village hall and provision of an interpretation panel next to the village pond.
