Hambleton’s gym members have completed their own Olympic challenge.

The district council-run centres in Northallerton, Stokesley, Thirsk and Bedale set all their gym customers the challenge to complete 20km in 12 days.

Members had to use one of three Olympic disciplines and for each one completed received a set number of tickets into the ‘2012 Challenge’ prize draw. At bronze level – a 20km cycle – they got one ticket; silver – a 20km run or walk – they got two tickets; and there were three tickets for the gold entry – a 20km row.

Twenty-three prizes were on offer including blocks of personal training sessions and two Ipod shuffles.

The winners of the top prizes were: Julian Norton, 40, from Thirsk, William Hey, 13, from Northallerton, and Simon Frank, 16, from Stokesley.
