Delays on A1

Heavy traffic on part of the single carriageway A1 road in Northumberland.

The A1 is closed northbound from the A1(M) junction in Leeming Bar to the A66 junction in Scotch Corner, because of a serious accident involving three lorries.

There is paint and battery acid spillage on the road.

A diversion in operation - either via the A684 to Northallerton and A167 to Darlington, or leave at J49 and use the A168 and A19.
