Burning papers pushed through Ripon letterbox

Firefighters were called to a house in Ripon after burning papers were pushed through its letterbox late last night, Friday, February 22.

Crews were called to the house on Willow Walk, Ripon at around 11.50pm after smoke alarms sounded in the home.

Two fire engines from Ripon station went to the scene, but the fire was out on their arrival.

The flames caused some damage to the door and doormat and the fire service are treating the incident as deliberate, a fire service spokesman said.
