Bright way to mark school's birthday
THE grounds of a Nidderdale primary school have been brightened up as part of celebrations to mark its 250th anniversary.
Eight accountants from PFK descended on Burnt Yates Primary School armed with tins of paint and brushes.
Led by company partner Billy Cairns, they tackled more than 360m sq of walls on the outside classroom, as well as painting gates and doors with eye-catching stripes.
The work was undertaken as part of PFK’s business in the community project and, as a reward for their hard work, headteacher Judi Popplewell arranged for the team to enjoy school dinner alongside the pupils who were having their leaving lunch that day.
Celebrations of the landmark anniversary this summer included a summer fair and barbecue, with past pupils and staff invited and a pageant of the school’s history by current pupils.
The school was also rededicated by the Very Reverend John Packer, Bishop of Ripon and Leeds, and an exhibition of school memorabilia was held.
