A Masham business is helping out Ripon police as the force launches a Rural Watch scheme.

W E Jameson and Son Ltd has supplied some high visibility waistcoats for Rural Watch patrols and now PCSOs Sharon Wilson and Stephanie Jones are encouraging farms and local businesses to sign up.

The police ask scheme members to go out on Rural Watch operations – during which they will wear the high visibility jackets – to assist them in preventing rural crime.

PCSO Jones said: “When they sign up they are put onto our ‘Ringmaster System’ where they receive police messages about criminal activity in the area they are living in.

“They also receive a Rural Watch sign to display on their entrance to the farm to make criminals aware they are part of a Rural Watch scheme.”

Any farmers or rural businesses interested in signing up to the scheme should telephone 101 and ask for PCSOs Stephanie Jones (collar number 5548) or Sharon Wilson (5559).
