Ripon in Bloom’s horticultural volunteers have replanted a city flower bed.

The first phase of the planting of Bedern Bank was completed on Sunday, March 11 by Ripon in Bloom, assisted by members of the Rotary Club of Ripon Rowels, working to a design by Robin Prince.

Some of the plants are evergreen and the group plans to keep the flower bed as colourful as possible for most of the year, as it sits between the cathedral and the racecourse.

The funding for the planting has come from donations given from within Ripon, which was matched by a contribution from Harrogate Borough Council Parks Department. It is planned to have the whole scheme in place before the Queen’s Jubilee.

Ripon in Bloom is a small group, drawing funding and members from all parts of the city, and members are actively looking for new ideas of where to work, and how to fund gardening work around Ripon.
