RAF Leeming hosted a very special guest after receiving a letter from the Scarborough Branch of Mencap.
The letter asked if one of their members, Keith Bennett, could spend the some time working in the mess.
The Warrant Officers and Sergeant’s Mess immediately issued an invitation to Keith who always lends a hand at the Mencap Brookleigh facility during lunchtimes by offering to clear the tables. Raymond Clarke, who works at Mencap Scarborough said in his letter: “Keith is a very sociable person and sees the job of clearing the tables as his own.”
Keith spent a couple of hours with RAF & ISS staff during a Friday lunchtime. Teresa Aston and Dawn MacMillan from ISS looked after Keith during his visit and said they were very grateful for the extra help.
After he had enjoyed himself helping out in the Sergeant’s Mess, Keith and Raymond joined the mess staff for a Friday Fish and Chips lunch.
Flight Lieutenant Dave Rice Officer Commanding Catering Flight at RAF Leeming said: “It was our pleasure to host Mr Bennett for the day.”
