Tories take all three borough council seats

It was a clean sweep for the Conservatives in Ripon’s borough council wards with its candidates taking all three seats of Minster, Moorside and Spa.

Counting of yesterday’s vote for the Harrogate Borough Council seats took place today (Friday) with the Tories holding two seats, Minster and Spa, while its candidate Coun Stuart Martin gained Moorside for the party, defeating Independent Andrew Williams in a seat vacated by fellow Independent Charlie Powell.

Charlie Powell was himself defeated in Ripon Minster, where he lost to Coun Zoe Metcalfe (Con) in a seat vacated by former Hornblower George Pickles.

Coun Mike Chambers was the third Conservative winner, retaining his Spa Ward seat.
