Medals awarded to Leeming staff

RAF Leeming held it’s Annual Formal Inspection with Air Officer Commanding Number 1 Group, Air Vice Marshall (AVM) Stuart Atha DSO MA BSc RAF, carrying out the inspection but also taking time to present honours and awards to Leeming-based personnel.

AVM Atha took the salute at a formal ceremony in front of the Officer’s Mess; as a flypast of 4 Hawk aircraft from 100 Squadron flew overhead. AVM Atha then inspected a parade of 16 airman. Fifteen awards, were presented to RAF personnel and an MOD Civil Servant.

Ann Holohan from Northallerton has been an MOD Civil Servant for 16 years, and works in RAF Leeming’s Budgets department. Mrs Holohan received an Afghanistan Campaign Medal for her deployment to Kabul in support of Operation Herrick. Mrs Holohan worked in a finance role in support of UK, NATO and multi-national forces whilst deployed. Mrs Holohan said: ‘It was a fantastic opportunity to show how MOD Civilians can integrate and support our regular forces, especially on deployed operations.”

Sergeant Howie Fishwick received a clasp to his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in recognition of 30 years of exemplary service.

He said: ‘I felt proud to receive my award today.”
