RAF Regiment personnel from RAF Leeming paid their respects to their military ancestors at the rededication of the RAF Regiment Memorial Chapel at St Anne’s church in Catterick.

Personnel from 609 (West Riding) Sqn Royal Auxilliary Air Force attended the event .

It marked a long association with the Catterick area by the Royal Air Force Regiment, which was based at RAF Catterick until 1994, when the station became an Army base.

Along with members of 609 (WR) Sqn, the annual service was attended by Air Officer Force Protection (AO FP) and Commandant General (CG) of the RAF Regiment, Air Commodore Nick Bray CBE MA RAF.

Also attending were several veterans and members of the RAF Regiment Association.

Squadron Leader Jeff Mercalfe, Officer Commanding 609 Sqn said: “There have always been strong links between the Royal Air Force and North Yorkshire, but especially so between the Royal Air Force Regiment and Catterick Village.

We are proud to attend the Rededication of the Memorial Chapel in St Anne’s Church which symbolises the spirit and tradition of the Corps.

It is a reminder to all RAF Regiment personnel, past and present, of the dedication to duty and sacrifices made by our forebears”.
