Our Mission for Macey: £35,000 campaign for little girl has successful start

The Harrogate Advertiser Series has launched a campaign to raise £35,000, which could give a bright little girl the use of her legs.

But for Macey, the condition has meant she is unable to walk without the support of an adult at all times.

Now, Macey’s family are trying to raise the money for a surgical procedure that could see their daughter walking independently.

Since the launch of Our Mission for Macey, people have written generous cheques up to the sum of £100 and donations on the Just Giving page have risen from £270 to over £700.

Songwriters and dedicated runners have been in touch, committing to fundraising gigs or sponsored challenges all in aid of Macey’s cause.

But even closer to home, Macey’s nursery, at Bishop Monkton C of E Primary School, have started throwing ideas around for how they will help drum up the money.

Head of the nursery, Emma Roberts said: “Macey is a lovely little girl and she’s settled so well into the nursery.

“There’s nothing that she doesn’t do that the other children do, she’s just as involved in everything. All the staff in nursery have a really good bond with her.

“The school administrator is running the York Marathon and is doing some fundraising for that and the Headteacher is doing something next summer too.

“We’re planning on doing something as a whole, with the school and the nursery, and we are going to be running a coffee morning.

“If it could give Macey the use of her legs and her independence then we’re all in support.”
