A NEW route will be introduced for this year’s Nidderdale Charity Walk.

Organised by Harrogate Rotary Club, it features three separate walks, the shortest of which has been changed this year.

Now just less than eight miles, it starts in Pateley Bridge before heading up to Bewerley and the picturesque Coldstones Cut with views from Greenhow across the countryside.

Charles Jesper, one of the organisers, said: “I walked this route with four other Rotarians last week and the views along the way far exceeded those on the previous short walk.”

The two longer walks, at 15 and 22 miles each, both begin and end in Pateley Bridge, while the special needs walk, suitable for people in wheelchairs, is a four-mile route from Scar House Dam to Lofthouse.

The event allows individuals and groups to raise money for their own charities and, in its 18 years, has led to more than £650,000 being donated to good causes.
