A NEW, adult division of St John Ambulance has been formed in Ripon following an intensive recruitment drive.

Divisional Officer Katie Lilly said: “After we spread the word there was a stream of enquiries and so far, this has resulted in the recruitment of 13 members. We’ve already trained some as first-aiders and others are in the process of completing induction courses.

“I’m really proud to be part of such a friendly, enthusiastic unit and look forward to it continuing to grow. The new members have integrated fantastically with our local youth units and are already assising at public events such as Ripon Races.

“We feel we are a valuable asset to the city of Ripon, ensuring that the local community has skilled first-aiders able to make the difference between a life lost and a life saved. We’re here to provide help to real people with real injuries, and we’re always looking for new members.”
