Racing fans can enjoy a pint of cask ale for the first time at Ripon Racecourse this spring, as plans to refurbish bars at the site gallop along.

Theakston’s cask ale will be served on draft at the racecourse as part of a structural makeover of the Silver Ring Bar 2.

The Theakston’s Terrace Bar will also give visitors the opportunity to use the new RiponBET facility, offering punters a range of popular fixed odds bet types at more than 50 betting windows across the racecourse – the first of its kind in Yorkshire.

The current toilet blocks at Theakston’s Terrace Bar will also be completely rebuilt after severe flooding wrecked the site in September.

The Jim Joel Bar will be completely refurbished and decorated, and a new raised terraced area will be built at the bar. For the racecourse’s 2013 season, an outside terraced area will be built at the Silks and Saddles Bar, where racegoers can dine and watch the racing from the stand side.

This year’s racing season will kick off at 2.10pm on Thursday, April 18.
