Creepy House summer reading challenge: the Reading Agency and libraries present Creepy House summer reading challenge at Mashamshire Community Library. A spine-tingling adventure is in store when you take part in the summer reading challenge 2013. Join the adventurers, Liv, Ollie, Rhys, Saeed, Tilda and Zoe, as you explore the creepy house by reading six books from the library. Along the way you’ll uncover the secrets of the creepy house and meet some of the hair-raising residents! Are you brave enough to explore the awful upstairs, the gruesome ground floor and the spine-tingling cellar? The challenge is aimed at children of between four and 11 years. Moth Discovery: Hackfall Woodland Trust. Hackfall, Grewelthorpe, near Masham. Saturday, July 27 8am to 10.30am. Meet at the Woodland Trust car park on the Grewelthorpe to Masham Road. Join Charles Fletcher to discover more about these magnificent creatures with fascinating names such as Blomer’s Rivulet, Dark Arches, Ghost Moth and Elephant Hawk Moth. At previous events up to 158 species have been recorded. The paths are steep in places. Cost £4 per adult, under 16s free. Keeping Company with Celia Bryce: at the Buck Inn, The Green, Thornton Watlass, Ripon HG4 4AH on Saturday, July 27 at 8.30am. Writer and broadcaster, Celia Bryce, previously fronted The Katy Freeway, the best country band in the North. Her recent appearances include the Drury Lane Theatre and several on BBC TV and radio. Vive Arts and Crafts Fair: are at Masham Town Hall on Saturday and Sunday, July 27 and 29 from 10am-4pm. Free admission. Vive Arts are always looking for new crafters, so if you or someone you know would be interested in having a stall, please get in touch with Paul or Suzanne on 01423 860971 or email skybluecrafts@ntlworld.com. Stock has to be homemade and potential stall holders must have public liability insurance. Stall charges per day are £16 for a six foot table and £22 for a 12 foot table.
