Heatwave conditions are to affect parts of the UK this week, leading experts to warn the public not to stay outdoors and to keep their homes cool.

Today is predicted to be the hottest of the year so far, with highs of 30 degrees in parts of the country, and tomorrow is expected to be as hot.

Public Health England issued a heatwave alert and urged people to stay hydrated.

Specific warnings went out to the most vulnerable people who will be particularly affected by the weather.
