The homes of two pensioners in the Harrogate Road area of Ripon have been burgled with jewellery and cash stolen.

Detectives said the break-ins, at two bungalows, happened sometime on Friday, March 28, while the occupiers were out.

Officers are appealing to anyone with information about the burglaries or who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the offences to contact them with information.

Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for DC Fiona Ayre or Harrogate CID.

Alternatively, information can be emailed to fiona.ayre@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk

If you prefer not to give your name, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Officers are also reminding residents to be conscious of their home security and keep an eye out for elderly neighbours and relatives.
