Church services: the Rev Caroline Falkingham will celebrate the Eucharist in St Andrew’s church at 10.30am on Sunday. There will also be the children’s Sunday club, Spotlights. The midweek celebration of the Eucharist in St Andrew’s church will be held at 10.30am on Wednesday.

Chapel service: there is no service in the Ebenezer chapel on Sunday. The united service, led by the Rev Susan Richardson, will begin at 10.30am at Sawley chapel.

Women’s fellowship: Roger Nightingale will be the guest speaker when the ladies meet in the Methodist chapel schoolroom at 2.15pm on Wednesday. He will talk about an incredible journey. Tea and biscuits will be served after the talk.

Film night: the next film night at the mechanics’ institute takes place at 7.30pm on Friday, November 23. Look in the hall entrance for details.

Gig: LED-ZEP/DC perform a live, musical tribute to the classic rock bands LED ZEPPELIN and AC/DC at the mechanics’ institute in Kirkby Malzeard on Saturday, November 24. The band delivers a faithful and passionate reproduction of the classic sounds of these rock giants. The door and bar are open at 7.30pm. Advance tickets priced at £8 are available from Kirkby Stores or by phoning 01765 658312. Tickets are £10 on the door, subject to availability.

Patronal fair: this will be held at the mechanics’ institute from 11am to 3pm on Saturday, December 1 with a host of stalls, tombola, raffle and refreshments. Father Christmas will be there and the children from Kirkby Malzeard school and pre-school will sing. The proceeds go to a named charity and Saint Andrew’s church.

Coffee morning: the coffee morning in aid of Saint Michael’s Hospice which was held at Ashfield House in Kirkby Malzeard raised £490.92 from the cake stall, raffle and donations and sold £315 worth of cards and calendars. The Fountains support group is grateful to everyone who supported it in any way.

Aldfield - Church service: the service of Evensong (BCP) begins at 6.30pm on Sunday in St Lawrence’s Church. The officiant will be Adrian Roberts.

Dallowgill - Chapel service: Dallowgill Chapel’s congregation is invited to join in the united service at Sawley chapel. It begins at 10.30am and will be led by the Rev Susan Richardson.

Galphay - Folk dance club: the folk dance club members meet in the village institute from 7.30pm to 10pm tomorrow. The band is Spile Tappers and Pauline Singleton will be the caller.

Fayre: Galphay village institute is holding a Christmas Fayre from 10am-3pm on Saturday, November 24. Refreshments will be available. Stalls to include plants, soaps, cakes, gifts and homeware. For more information contact Elizabeth on 07702 168300.

Grantley - Christmas fair: Fountains Pre-school Christmas fair takes place in the village hall from 2.30-6.30pm on Tuesday.

Dancing: takes place in the village hall from 7.30pm to 10pm next Thursday, November 22.

Dance: the next dance at the village hall is to raise funds for Winksley and Grantley Young Farmers. It will be held from 8pm-midnight on Saturday, November 24. Alan’s band will play. There will be a raffle and light refreshments.

Sawley - Church service - there is no service on Sunday in the Church of St Michael and All Angels. Chapel - The Rev Susan Richardson will lead the united service at 10.30am on Sunday in Sawley chapel.

Village hall events. Badminton begins at 7.30pm on Monday, there is a bowls match at 7pm on Tuesday and short mat bowls is at 1pm on Wednesday.

Whist and dominoes: the monthly whist and domino evening starts at 7.30pm tomorrow in the village hall.

A chocolate evening: this will be held in the village hall at 7.30pm on Saturday when Martin Curzon will talk about all things chocolatey. Winksley - Church service: The Eucharist will be celebrated by the Rev Martin Bull at 10.30am on Sunday in the Church of Ss Cuthbert and Oswald.
