A meeting to discuss the future of Harrogate’s troubled RAF Association will be held on March 5.
Harrogate’s RAF Association is expected to close within weeks, after 70 years of existence.
The association was once so successful that it bought its headquarters at Turret House on East Parade.
However, a recent lack of support means the income from the Bar is unable to provide the necessary finance for the costs of the building and losses have started to appear in the club’s finances.
A spokesperson said: “It is sad to reflect that after 70 years the RAF Association in Harrogate will have to close in the non-too distant future.
“At the next Annual General Meeting on March 5, 2014 the Officers of the Committee should plan for and implement the closure of the Club and disposal of the building.
“It is hoped that as many members as possible attend the Annual General meeting at 7pm and devise a solution that will keep things afloat.”
Members are urged to attend the meeting.
Non-members should contact reporter Alex Johnston if they feel they can help.
