It’s time to get your pet looking fabulous - our hugely popular pet picture competition is returning for 2014, with a Tour de France twist.

We want you to submit a picture of your pet looking fantastic in support of our Yellow Yorkshire campaign.

Submitted pictures will be included in our newspapers and on our websites in the run-up to the Harrogate charity Dog Show.

The show’s organisers will pick a winner and present the owner with a prize at the May 25 event.

Our Yellow Yorkshire campaign is a bid to get the district dressed in yellow to celebrate le Tour.

Your pet could be sporting a yellow collar, perhaps - or simply be pictured next to something yellow - any pets accompanying owners on a bike ride will be accepted!

The show is organised by Shampooches owner Verity Watts, and owner of Pooches Galore Kim Metcalfe.

They said: ““We can’t wait to judge the Harrogate Advertiser series’ competition for another year.

“It was hugely popular in 2013, and we hope owners and pets across the district will get behind this year’s Tour-themed competition.”

Last year, over 250 pictures made their way to the ‘Advertiser series’ offices.

Eventual winners Sprout and Widget, pictured by their owner Davina Ellis, enjoyed their time in the sun at the 2013 Dog Show.

Acting News Editor at the Harrogate Advertiser Alex Johnston said: “I am delighted to launch Your pets for 2014.

“We were overwhelmed by the response last year.

“I hope our readers across Harrogate, Knaresborough, Nidderdale, Ripon and Wetherby get behind our Tour-themed competition this year, as we bid to make Yorkshire yellow for le Tour.

“We will include as many pet pictures as we can, and ensure they are all uploaded to our websites.

“Good luck, and get snapping!”
