Have your say

I note that last week’s edition of your newspaper carried notifications from North Yorkshire County Council listing roads to be closed for maintenance – all of which are on the route of the Tour de Yorkshire this year.

It’s a sad state of affairs in local government when it takes a cycle race to stimulate NYCC to carry out routine road repairs.

And the ones being repaired are in some (I suspect many) cases those in least need of maintenance.

I know of some in Nidderdale that are in a far worse state than those that have had those tell-tale white lines spray painted on them recently indicating the areas to be re-surfaced.

Let’s hope that the 2017 race takes a different route through the Harrogate district so that some other lucky local residents can get their roads re-surfaced.
