Church services: family service, led by Liz Jarvis, begins at 10.30am on Sunday in St Andrew’s church. The mid week communion service will be at 10.30am on Wednesday.

Chapel service: service of the sacrament, with the Rev Susan Richardson, at 10.30am on Sunday in the Ebenezer chapel.

Himalayan balsam: a meeting for volunteers and landowners about Himalayan balsam will be held at 7pm tonight at the mechanics’ institute. For more information please contact Kelly Harmer at the AONB office (01423 556035).

10k and Fun Run: takes place on Saturday. The Fun Run starts at 1pm and the 10k Run starts at 2pm, both of them from outside the Highside butchers shop on Main Street. Tea will be served for all competitors at the mechanics’ institute from 3pm and the prize giving will take place at approximately 4pm. Entry forms are available from the Kirkby Malzeard website or from Kirkby Stores. There will be fun on the Highside playing field with a bouncy castle, BBQ, teas, a cake stall and tombola.

Official opening: of the Coronation Diamond Jubilee garden in Kirkby Malzeard will take place at 3pm on Sunday. All villagers are welcome to attend and tea and cake will be served by the WI in the mechanics’ institute afterwards. Donations of cakes should be left there before the ceremony.

Kirkby Malzeard WI: members meet in the mechanics’ institute at 7.15pm on Wednesday when Graham Ironside will be the guest speaker. He will be talking about the history of Yorkshire television. Invitations have been issued to other WIs to attend what promises to be an interesting and informative evening.

Yorkshire Air Ambulance: there was overwhelming support from the local community and the parents and children of Masham Primary School for the cake stall at the May Fair and £387.25 was raised for Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Another stall will be held on the Highside playing field at the 10k and Fun Run on Saturday.

Workshop: Kate Crane’s next workshop will be held from 9.30am-12.30pm on Saturday, June 8 in the mechanics’ institute.

Coffee morning: takes place at the methodist chapel from 10am-noon on Tuesday, June 11 when there will be cakes, produce and cards on sale.

Flower and Produce Show: will be held on Saturday, September 7. The titles for the photography section will be Weather, Woodland landscape and Food and drink.

Aldfield - Church service: at 6.30pm on Sunday at St Lawrence’s Church will be Evensong (BCP). It will be led by the Rev Caroline Falkingham.

Azerley - members of the parish council meet at 7.30pm tonight in Winksley church room. The Winksley ward annual parish meeting will be followed by the annual parish council meeting and the parish council meeting.

Dallowgill - Chapel service: no service in Dallowgill chapel on Sunday.

Church service: Nina Harrison will be the officiant at the service of Evensong (BCP) at 6.30pm on Sunday in the Chapel of the Resurrection.

Galphay - Folk dance club: Hilary Johnson will be the caller when the Village Hop band plays for the Highside Folk Dance club meeting in the village institute from 8-10pm tomorrow. The charge is £3 for adults and 50p for children.

Grantley - Meeting: Winksley cum Grantley Young Farmers meet in the village hall on Wednesday.

Dance: at the village hall will be held from 8pm-midnight on Saturday, June 15 when the band will be Danelaws. There will be a raffle and refreshments will be served.

Sawley - Church service: Eucharist will be celebrated by the Rev Caroline Falkingham at 9am on Sunday in the Church of St Michael and All Angels.

Chapel service: Sunday worship will be led by the Rev Susan Richardson at 2pm in Sawley chapel.

Tea: The monthly afternoon tea will be held from 2pm tomorrow in the village hall.

Sawley WI: meet in the village hall at 7.30pm on Tuesday.

Winksley - Church service: Rev Caroline Falkingham will celebrate the Eucharist at 10.30am on Sunday in the Church of Ss Cuthbert and Oswald.
