Church services: communion by extension with Adrian Roberts at 10.30am on Sunday in St Andrew’s church. The mid week communion service begins at 10.30am on Wednesday.

Chapel service: Sunday worship will be led by Mr Lister Baynes at 10.30am on in the Ebenezer chapel.

Gosforth’s Fete: by Kirkby Malzeard Players at 7.30pm in the mechanics’ institute on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are on sale at Kirkby Stores and are limited to 60 per performance. There will be supper and additional entertainment.

Women’s Fellowship AGM: takes place in the Methodist chapel schoolroom at 2.15pm on Wednesday. The Rev Susan Richardson will attend the meeting.

Meeting: members of Kirkby Malzeard, Laverton and Dallowgill parish council meet in the mechanics’ institute at 7.15pm on Monday, April 29. This will be the annual parish meeting. Agenda items should be with the clerk by 9am on Monday, April 22.

Kirkby Malzeard WI: at 7.15pm on Monday, May 1 when John Shackleton will be the speaker. He will talk about aid to eastern Europe.

May Day: the Flower and Produce Show committee will hold its annual stall at the market cross on May Day, Monday May 6. There will be plants for sale and a cake and produce stall. Contributions for the stalls will be most welcome. Selling begins at 9.30am. A raffle to raise funds for Yorkshire in Bloom will start off at the market cross and continue at the mechanics’ institute where a coffee morning will be held from 10am to noon.

Aldfield - Church service: on Sunday at St Lawrence’s Church will be Evensong. It will begin at 6.30pm.

Dallowgill - Chapel service: no service on Sunday in Dallowgill chapel.

The Dallowgill Spring walk: will be held on Saturday and there will be a heritage exhibition in the chapel from 11am to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Walkers are asked to register at the chapel (HG4 3QY) from 1pm for a prompt 1.30pm start. The main walk is five or six miles long and there will be the option of a shorter route. Appropriate footwear should be worn. Tea will be served in the chapel schoolroom at the end of the walk and there will be a raffle. The charge, to include tea, is £5 for adults and £2.50 for children with a family ticket costing £10. Non-walkers are invited to tea (£3) and everyone will have an opportunity to view the heritage exhibition in the chapel. The proceeds from the walk will go to Dallowgill chapel and the Chapel of the Resurrection.

Galphay - The Highside Folk Dance club: members meet in the village institute from 8-10pm tomorrow when Twiddling Thumbs will play and the caller will be Angela Bodey. The charge is £3 for adults and 50p for children.

Grantley - St Aidan’s Swing Band: will play at the jazz evening which will be held in the village hall tomorrow. The doors will open at 7pm and the start time is 7.30pm. This is a fund-raiser for the Fountains parish.

Dance: at the village hall will be held from 8pm to midnight on Saturday, April 27. The band will be Roe Valley. There will be a raffle, and refreshments will be served.

Saint Michael’s Hospice: dance at the village hall raised £190. Thank you to everyone who supported it and especially to the village hall committee who organised it and to The Beresfords who played.

Sawley - Church service: there is no service on Sunday in the Church of St Michael and All Angels.

Chapel service: Sunday worship will be led by the Rev David Richardson at 6.30pm in Sawley chapel.

Whist and Dominoes: This takes place in the village hall at 7.30pm tomorrow.

Winksley - Church service: there will be a celebration of the Eucharist and a Baptism at 10.30am on Sunday in the Church of Ss Cuthbert and Oswald. The officiant will be the Rev Caroline Falkingham.
