Church services: Adrian Roberts will lead the monthly children’s service at 10.30am on Sunday in St Andrew’s church. The mid week communion service will be held at 10.30am on Wednesday.

Chapel service: Sunday worship will be led by the Rev Ruth Parry at 10.30am on Sunday in the Ebenezer chapel.

Day of prayer: the women’s world day of prayer will be held at the Methodist chapel at 2pm on Friday. The service this year has been written by the Christian women of France. The speaker will be the Rev Susan Richardson. Refreshments will be served after the service.

Film night: the film scheduled to be shown at the mechanics’ institute on Friday, January 18 was cancelled due to the severe weather conditions. It will now be screened on Friday at 7.30pm. All details are available on the notice boards.

Dominoes: the bowls club domino night begins at 7.30pm on Monday in the Highside playing field pavilion. Entry is £2 to include tea and biscuits, and there will be a raffle.

Meeting: the members of Kirkby Malzeard WI meet in the mechanics’ institute at 7.15pm on Wednesday, March 6. Friends and villagers are welcome to come along to the talk about Wensleydale Creamery. There will be an opportunity to sample and buy a selection of cheeses.

Coffee morning: the chapel coffee morning will be held from 10am-noon on Tuesday, March 12 when, in addition to coffee, there will be produce and cards to sell.

Women’s Fellowship: Lt Angela Noble from the Salvation Army will be the speaker at the meeting in the chapel on Wednesday, March 13. It begins at 2.15pm.

Crocus Walk: the 2013 Crocus walk in aid of Breakthrough breast cancer will be held on Sunday, March 17. Please meet at the Highside playing field for a prompt 1pm start. There will be two walks: a six mile one and a shorter one for families. Tea will be served at the playing field pavilion at the end of the walk.

Aldfield - Church service: There is no service on Sunday in St Lawrence’s Church.

Dallowgill - Chapel service: There is no service on Sunday in Dallowgill chapel.

Meeting: the next Discover Dallowgill meeting in the schoolroom begins after the chapel service on Sunday, March 10.

Galphay - Folk dance club: Polka Dots are the band and Jan Porter will be the caller when the Highside Folk Dance club members meet in the village institute from 8pm to 10pm on Friday. The charge is £3 for adults and 50p for children.

Grantley - Dancing: this will be held in the village hall from 7.30-10pm tonight.

Dominoes: the monthly domino drive starts at 7.30pm on Friday in the village hall.

Lent lunches: tomorrow’s lent lunch will be held at Wilderbrook Kennels in Winksley, the home of Jackie Morton. Lunches during the rest of the lent season take place at 1 Mowbray Cottage, Kirkby Malzeard (March 8), Hencliffe Cottage, Winksley, (March 15) and Newfield, Galphay (March 22).

Meeting: Grantley village hall committee members meet at 8pm next Thursday, March 7 in the village hall.

Dance: Mark Spafford will play for the next dance at the village hall. It will be held from 8pm to midnight on Saturday, March 9. There will be a raffle and supper will be available.

WI meeting: Simon Duffin is the guest speaker when Grantley and Winksley WI members meet in the village hall at 7.15pm on Wednesday, March 13. His talk will be about tea and coffee in small town America.

Sawley - Church service: the Rev Caroline Falkingham will celebrate the Eucharist (a said service) at 9am on Sunday at the Church of St Michael and All Angels.

Chapel service - there is no service on Sunday in Sawley chapel.

Quiz night: the village hall committee is organising a quiz night in the village hall at 7.30pm on Saturday.

Meeting: Sawley WI members meet in the village hall at 7.30pm on Tuesday, March 5.

Arts Group: at 7.30pm on Friday, March 8 Zeke Deighton will be at the village hall presenting A country childhood in words and song. The bar will be open and the charge is £5. Phone 01765 620250 or 620328 to book or pay at the door.

Workshops: Hester Cox is holding two different printing workshops for beginners in the village hall. The first one is from 10am-4pm on Saturday, March 9, the second one is on Saturday, April 13. The £15 charge includes all materials and tea/coffee. Booking is essential. Please phone 01765 620250.

Winksley - Church service: the Rev Caroline Falkingham will celebrate the Eucharist at 10.30am on Sunday in the Church of Ss Cuthbert and Oswald.
