Church service: the Harvest Family service begins at 10.30am on Sunday in St Andrew’s Church and a Harvest Songs Of Praise will be held at the Methodist chapel at 6.30pm,. There will be a midweek celebration of the Eucharist at 10.30am on Wednesday.
Chapel service: the Ebenezer chapel’s congregation is invited to the united Harvest Festival at 10.30am on Sunday at St Andrew’s church. At 6.30pm there will be a Harvest Songs Of Praise at the chapel.
Harvest supper: the village’s harvest supper takes place tomorrow at 7.30pm in the mechanics’ institute. The Rev David Richardson will be the after dinner speaker. His subject will be Peace and Conflict – a sabbatical experience. Tickets are required for catering purposes and are available from the Methodist chapel and St. Andrew’s church. Donations for charity will be welcome on the night.
Harvest service: Kirkby Malzeard Primary school’s Harvest Service will be held in the Methodist Chapel on Monday.
Classes at the mechanics institute: these will be exercise classes from 2-3pm and from 7-8pm on Tuesday and from 9.10-10.10am on Friday. There will be watercolour painting at 9am, needlecraft at 1.30pm on Thursday and badminton will be held on Thursday evening.
Coffee morning: the monthly coffee morning at the Methodist Chapel will be held from 10am-noon on Tuesday. In addition to coffee and chat there will be cakes and produce for sale.
Women’s Fellowship: the first meeting of the autumn session will be held at 2.15pm on Wednesday in the Methodist Chapel schoolroom. There will be a guest speaker at these meetings and the talk will be followed by tea and biscuits. The meetings are now open to all ladies. They will be warmly welcomed. The speaker at this first meeting will be the Rev Susan Richardson.
Family fun open day: this will be held at Kirkby Malzeard Primary School from 11am- 2pm on Saturday, October 13 and will be an opportunity to see and take part in some of the activities going on and meet the staff.
Results: the winning duck at the Highside Playing Fields Association duck race was number 76 belonging to Mark Wilson. Helen Kitching’s duck number 280 was second, the third was John Fowler’s duck number 905 and the fourth was number 616 belonging to J Tudbury. The first duck in the business class belonged to Dave Pickles Builders and THP Services was second.
Aldfield - Church service: the Harvest Evensong begins at 6.30pm on Sunday in St Lawrence’s Church.
Dallowgill - Chapel service: the Rev. R. Parry will lead Sunday worship for Rural day at 2pm in Dallowgill Chapel.
Discover Dallowgill history group: this is being formed to unearth the area’s rich heritage and create an archive of historical material of the community of Dallowgill that will be available to all. People are invited to come forward with further material, including maps, photographs and records about trades, properties and families, to add to what is already known. Please bring anything of interest to a meeting in the Methodist Chapel schoolroom from 3.30-5pm on Sunday, October 14. Galphay - Folk dance club: members will meet from 7.30-10pm tomorrow at the village institute when the band will be Blind Panic and Tony Whitehead will be the caller.

Grantley - Meeting: the meeting of the village hall committee begins at 8pm tonight in the village hall.
Dominoes: the monthly domino drive will be held in the village hall at 7.30pm tomorrow.
WI meeting: Grantley and Winksley WI members meet at 7.15pm on Wednesday in the village hall. It is the AGM.
Dance classes: these begin for the Autumn season at 7.30pm next Thursday, October 11 in the village hall.
Dance: Lyne Valley will play for the next dance at the village hall. It will be held from 8pm to midnight on Saturday, October 13. There will be a raffle and light refreshments.
Anniversary dinner and disco: to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Winksley cum Grantley YFC anniversary dinner and disco will be held at The Millstones on Saturday, October 13. Village hall events: there will be table tennis at 7.30pm on Monday and short mat bowls at 1pm on Wednesday.
Meeting: at 7.30pm on Tuesday the AGM of the village hall committee will be held in the village hall.
