Church services: the Rev Trevor Vaughan will celebrate the Eucharist at 10.30am on Sunday in St Andrew’s Church. There will also the the children’s Sunday club, Spotlights. The mid week communion service will be held at 10.30am on Wednesday.
Chapel service: the Rev Susan Richardson will lead the united service at 10.30am on Sunday in the Ebenezer chapel.
Fashion show: a fashion show of ladies and children’s clothes is being organised by the mechanics’ institute committee tomorrow. As well as seeing the clothes modelled, there will be an opportunity to buy. The bar at the mechanics’ institute will be open from 6.30pm and the fashion show begins at 7pm. Entry is free. There will be a raffle.
Workshop: Kate Crane will be holding an all-day workshop (9.30am-3.30pm) in the mechanics’ institute on Saturday. At this extended workshop there will be an opportunity to make cards and gifts for Easter using a variety of popular techniques and materials. Refreshments will be provided throughout the day but please bring a sandwich for lunch.
Concert: the Highside Singers will present a concert at the Methodist Chapel at 7.30pm on Saturday. Tickets are £6 and are available by contacting Ruth Verity on 01765 658401. Proceeds from the event will be divided between chapel funds and Jennyruth workshop.
Crocus Walk: the 2013 Crocus walk in aid of Breakthrough breast cancer will be held on Sunday. Please meet at the Highside playing field for a prompt 1pm start. There will be two walks: a six mile one and a shorter one for families. Tea will be served at the playing field pavilion at the end of the walk.
Dominoes: the next bowls club domino night begins at 7.30pm on Monday in the Highside playing field pavilion. Entry is £2 to include tea and biscuits, and there will be a raffle.
Meeting: members of the Kirkby Malzeard flower and produce show committee meet at 7.30pm on Thursday, March 21 in the Highside playing field pavilion.

Parish council meeting: members of Kirkby Malzeard, Laverton and Dallowgill parish council meet in the mechanics’ institute at 7.15pm on Monday, March 25.
Women’s Fellowship: the Rev Susan Richardson will be the members’ guest at their meeting in the chapel on Wednesday, March 27. It begins at 2.15pm.
Aldfield - Church service: the service at 6.30pm on Sunday in St Lawrence’s Church is Evensong.
Dallowgill - Chapel service: Dallowgill chapel’s congregation is invited to the united service at 10.30am on Sunday in the Ebenezer chapel.
Galphay - Folk dance club: Dave will be the caller and the Roosters will play when the Highside Folk Dance club members meet in the village institute from 8-10pm tomorrow. The charge is £3 for adults and 50p for children.
Meeting: members of Azerley Parish council meet in the village institute at 7.30pm on Thursday, March 28. This will also be the Galphay annual parish meeting.
Grantley – Dancing: there will be dancing in the village hall from 7.30-10pm tonight.
Young farmers: Winksley cum Grantley young farmers meet in the village hall at 7.30pm on Wednesday, March 27.
Dance: the next dance at the village hall will be held from 8pm-midnight on Easter Saturday, March 30. This dance is in aid of Saint Michael’s Hospice. There will be a raffle and home-made biscuits and tea or coffee will be served.
Sawley - Church service: there is no service on Sunday at the Church of St Michael and All Angels.
Chapel service: there is no service on Sunday in Sawley chapel. The congregation is invited to the united service at 10.30am at Kirkby Malzeard Chapel.
Whist and dominoes: this month’s whist and domino evening begins at 7.30pm tomorrow in the village hall.
Village hall events: there will be table tennis at 7.30pm on Monday, a bowls match at 7pm on Tuesday and short mat bowls is at 1pm on Wednesday.
Afternoon tea: afternoon tea will be served at 2pm on Friday, March 29 in the village hall.
Winksley - Church service: the Rev Alan Denyer will celebrate the Eucharist at 10.30am on Sunday in the Church of Ss Cuthbert and Oswald.
Lent lunches: today’s Lent lunch will be held at Hencliffe Cottage, Winksley. The final Lent lunch takes place at Newfield, Galphay. Lent lunches raise funds for Christian Aid.
