Church services: there will be a service of communion by extension (BCP) with Adrian Roberts at 9am on Sunday in St Andrew’s church. The mid week communion service will be held at 10.30am on Wednesday.

Chapel service: Sunday worship will be led by Mr David Mortimer at 10.30am on Sunday in the Ebenezer chapel.

Quiz night: the monthly quiz at the mechanics’ institute starts at 7.30pm tomorrow.

Meeting: members of Kirkby Malzeard, Laverton and Dallowgill parish council meet in the annex of the mechanics’ institute at 7.15pm on Monday.

Women’s fellowship: the ladies meet in the Methodist chapel schoolroom at 2.15pm on Wednesday when the speaker will be Mr Barry Kay. His topic will be The other side of the world. Tea and biscuits will follow the talk.

Day of prayer: the women’s world day of prayer will be held at the Methodist Chapel at 2pm next Friday, March 1. The service this year has been written by the Christian women of France. The speaker will be Rev Susan Richardson. Refreshments will be served after the service.

Film night: the film scheduled to be shown at the mechanics’ institute on Friday, January 18 was cancelled due to the severe weather conditions. It will now be screened on Friday, March 1 at 7.30pm. All details are available on the notice boards.

Dominoes: the bowls club domino night begins at 7.30pm on Monday, March 4 in the Highside playing field pavilion. Entry is £2 and there will be a raffle.

Meeting: the members of Kirkby Malzeard WI meet in the mechanics’ institute at 7.15pm on Wednesday, March 6. Friends and villagers are welcome to come along to the talk about Wensleydale Creamer

Walks: calling all walkers. The 2013 Crocus walk in aid of Breakthrough breast cancer will be held on Sunday, March 17 and the Dallowgill Spring walk in support of Dallowgill Methodist chapel and the Chapel of the Resurrection will be on Saturday, April 20. Further details of both events will be available nearer the dates.

Aldfield - Church service: the Eucharist will be celebrated by Rev Caroline Falkingham at 9am on Sunday in St Lawrence’s Church.

Dallowgill - Chapel service: there is no service on Sunday in Dallowgill chapel.

Galphay - Folk dance club: Polka Dots are the band and Jan Porter will be the caller when the Highside Folk Dance club members meet in the village institute from 8pm to 10pm on Friday, March 1. The charge is £3 for adults and 50p for children.

Grantley - Dance: the next dance at the village hall will be in aid of Dallowgill chapel. It will be held on Saturday from 8pm to midnight. Alan’s band will play and there will be a raffle and supper.

Sawley - Church service: the Eucharist will be celebrated by Rev Caroline Falkingham at 10.30am on Sunday at the Church of St Michael and All Angels.

Chapel service: there is no service on Sunday in Sawley Chapel.

Tea: afternoon tea will be served in the village hall from 2pm tomorrow.

Sale: from 10am-1pm on Saturday there will be a table top sale at the village hall. Please telephone 01765 620328 to book a table, price £7 a table, as soon as possible. Coffee and biscuits will be on sale (£1).

Village hall events: there will be table tennis at 7.30pm on Monday, dominoes at 1.30pm and a bowls match at 7pm on Tuesday and short mat bowls at 1pm on Wednesday.

Quiz night: the village hall committee is organising a quiz night in the village hall at 7.30pm on Saturday. March 2.

Meeting: Sawley WI members meet in the village hall at 7.30pm on Tuesday, March 5.

Arts Group: at 7.30pm on Friday, March 8 Zeke Deighton will be at the village hall presenting A country childhood in words and song. The bar will be open and the charge is £5. Telephone 01765 620250 or 620328 to book or pay at the door.

Workshops: Hester Cox is holding two different printing workshops for beginners in the village hall. The first one is from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, March 9, the second one is on Saturday, April 13. The £15 charge includes all materials and tea/coffee. Booking is essential. Please telephone 01765 620250.

Winksley - Church service: there is no service on Sunday in the Church of Ss Cuthbert and Oswald.
