The junior members of Ripon Runners have been training to succeed at this weekend’s Lightwater Valley Challenge.

Mrs Lisa Sorby, organiser of the junior club, is hoping for a large turnout from the group at the event on Sunday, March 17.

The first Lightwater Valley Challenge marked the first competition the junior club entered and they have been supporting the event ever since.

Like the challenge, the junior club has also grown over the years and they now have a number of children regularly competing in events including Yorkshire Cross Country events.

Entries for the third Lightwater Valley Challenge can be made on the day at the Pub in the Woods. The Challenge has three different races; at 10am the 3K run will start.

This will be followed by the main race, a multi terrain 10K race at 11am and then a fun field run for under-nines who are keen to join in the fun of running will start at 11.15am.

Funds raised go to two charities, North Stainley CE Primary School and BLESMA – The Limbless Veterans.

Application forms are available to download from www.northstainley.n-yorks.sch.uk, by telephoning 01765 635276 or on the day at the event.
