First-hand experience of the work of the charity Mercy Ships was outlined by Guest of Honour David Peet at the 87th anniversary Charter Dinner held at the Ripon Spa Hotel.
He also used his experience as an Official Receiver to give a humorous slant to often negative situations.
More than 80 people attended the event with eight Rotary Clubs represented: Driffield, Harrogate Brigantes, Ilkley Wharfedale, Knaresborough, Leeds, Northallerton Mowbray, Otley Chevin and Ripon Rowels.
Coun Mick Stanley, Mayor of Ripon, commented on the Club’s community work and the Ripon Plan while District Governor Rod Walmsley stressed the importance of the aim to attempt to lighten up other people’s lives. Club President Rodney Wilson referred to past Ripon Club Presidents and the links with mother club Leeds.
