Ripon Community Link’s £97,000 scheme to renovate St Wilfrid’s Bungalow to support adults with learning difficulties has been given a boost.
Howdens Joinery, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of kitchen and joinery products with a depot in Ripon, has declared its support with a commitment to supply a kitchen free of charge.
A spokesman for the charity said: “Ripon Community Link extends its thanks to the Howdens depot in Ripon for this generous support achieved through the clubbing together of regional charitable support for the project.”
With £50,000 already raised, Ripon Community Link is seeking to reduce the costs of the build by at least £10,000 through donations.
The remainder of the money is being sought from other grants and from its spring fundraising campaign.
The spokesman said: “Ripon Community Link would very much welcome donations, small and large, from local companies able to express their support for this valuable work.
“With the bungalow currently in a state of disrepair there is a whole range of help needed from fencing to windows and doors, insulation, heating and other materials.”
Ripon Community Link stages a charity walk on Wednesday, April 30, with people walking one-mile, five-mile and 10-mile routes from Ripon Cathedral at 10.30am.
