ONE OF the most advanced anaesthetic ultrasound machines on the market is benefiting patients at Northallerton’s Friarage Hospital, thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Friarage.

The new machine enables anaesthetists at the hospital to perform ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia by using nerve blocks under direct vision which can eliminate the need for some drugs.

Dr Ahmed Aziz, consultant paediatric anaesthetist, said: “We are tremendously grateful to the Friends. This is one of the best ultrasounds on the market and will help us improve the quality of service and safety we provide to our patients.”
