Staff also showed Coun Lumley the new SELECTION PRO resistance machines, which feature a small Wi-Fi connected touchscreen that provides a virtual coach for strength training, the first of its kind in the industry.

As part of the upgrade, Brimhams have also introduced a mobile app which can be linked to wearable technology to provide customers with one central place to record their indoor and outdoor workouts, access their activity data, and check their progress.

Coun Lumley said: “We’re committed to investing in the district’s leisure and sporting facilities and the Brimhams fitness centres here in Nidderdale and at the Harrogate Hydro and Ripon Leisure Centre have been completely transformed with equipment that is stylish and modern, and better meets the expectations of modern gym users.

“We hope that residents will enjoy using the new, improved fitness equipment, and will make full use of the new technology which will make it much easier for them to keep track of how they’re progressing.”
