Happygate, the first-ever grassroots arts and music to be held in Harrogate’s Valley Gardens, takes place tomorrow, Sunday, July 24 all day.

Any proceeds from this free festival will go to local charities Fighting Ependymoma, Craft Aid International, a Harrogate-based charity run by Susie Hart MBE, and Harrogate Homeless Project.

As well as a whole host of family-friendly, arts and craft, food and drink activities at the bandstand, the Sun Pavilion, the two domes at the Colonnades, the lawns and more, this community-organised new event will also feature plenty of live music.

Providing grassroots music and arts from Harrogate, the main stage will see Dan Mizen of Active Audio iorganising an extravaganza of local musicians performing a variety of different musical styles to suit everyone, young and old, with acts ranging from Vintage Rhythms, a dance band playing music of the 40’s & 50’s through to the winners of the Harrogate Amp Awards final, Two Tone Rust, a four-piece band from King James’s School in Knaresborough.

The MG Band , an amazing local seven piece reggae and ska band will also be appearing - as well as local rock bands Pips, Hellfire Jack, Strangers in Paradise, The All Together Now Choir, Alice and the Atoms, Howlin’ Mat and Selby Green and more.
