Grewelthorpe bonfire: will be held on Monday, November 5, in Lofty’s field. Bonfire lit 6.30pm, fireworks 7pm. Access down Trenholmes Lane near The Crown. Strictly no cars allowed, please park in village. Hotdogs, soup and glow sticks on sale. Sorry

no sparklers allowed due to insurance restrictions. Please wear sensible footwear. No entrance charge but donations to this worthwhile event gratefully received. This event is organised by The Grewelthorpe Sports and Social Association.

Grewelthorpe WI: the October meeting was the AGM. The committee was re-elected en bloc. Mrs Kath Jeff was re-elected as president. The secretary Margaret Robinson gave her annual statement and the treasurer Barbara Bradley presented the audited accounts. The evening closed with a supper and two quiz games. The competition was for a vegetable which will be made up into a basket for the Harvest Festival. The next meeting is on November 1 at 7.30pm in the school. The competition is for a Yorkshire limerick.

Social Evenings: a series of social evenings are being held to raise money for the church funds. These are friendly informal evenings with a speaker, a drink and light refreshments. Cost is £5. The next meeting will be on Monday, November 12 when Clogarhythm will entertain with clog dancing, music, stories and dialect verse.

Village Hall News: items from the old Methodist chapel in Grewelthorpe are being sold off prior to the start of building work for the new village hall. Wood panelling, cast iron radiators, chairs, crockery etc need to be cleared. Please contact L.Barnes 01765 602838 for further details.
