Hambleton and Richmondshire householders with solid and stone-walled homes can now reduce heat loss by 45 per cent and save up to £640 a year on heating bills thanks to new funding for insulation.
Hambleton and Richmondshire District Councils are working with Yorkshire Energy Partnership – the local, impartial energy advice service – to offer this new grant to people in rural homes.
Homeowners and people renting privately in areas not connected to the mains gas network can get help with external or internal wall insulation if the house has solid rather than cavity walls. The scheme is free to people on certain benefits while all others will receive at least a 50 per cent discount.
And everyone can claim a 50 per cent discount on polybead insulation to treat stone-faced and narrow cavity walls.
For more information on these grants – which are available on a first-come, first-served basis –contact Yorkshire Energy Partnership on 01904 554406 and quote ‘Wrapping up Yorkshire’.
All insulation is subject to a free survey, with householders urged to get in touch even if unsure of their home’s wall type.
