A brave Dishforth mum-of-two has had all of her red hair shaved off to raise money for premature babies.
Amy Dalby, 27, took part in the “completely crazy” challenge to raise money for the charity Bliss, which helps babies born too soon, too small or too quick. And it was Amy’s own experience of giving birth to baby Ruby, 18 months – who was born at just 28 weeks – which gave her the strength to go through with the challenge.
“I don’t think there could ever be enough awareness of premature births,” Amy, who is married to 27-year-old soldier Ben, told the Gazette.
“But I am just trying to raise a greater awareness and say thank you to Bliss for all the work they do for poorly babies.”
Speaking to the Gazette before her head was shaved Amy said she was a “little bit nervous” but had experimented with hairstyles in the past. Talking after the event, Amy said the experience at Dishforth Airfield was “emotional”.
