A TRIO of young rugby players are running with the ball after being offered the chance to play at a higher level.

Northallerton College students Jed Bainbridge, Joe Greiff and Glen Ient, have all been selected after performing well at area trials in Thirsk.

They will now represent Hambleton and Richmondshire in area matches around the region.

Jed is following in his father’s footsteps as he plays for Northallerton Rugby Club.

“He would like me to play in the pack but I am quite happy as fly-half.” said the 14-year-old from Romanby.

Joe, also aged 14, from Northallerton, who plays prop, said: “The selection provides us with a great opportunity to be spotted and play at a higher level.”

Glen, 15, also of Northallerton, who plays centre, added: “Hopefully we can all now develop our game by playing some of the best sportsmen around.”

The college’s head of sport, Anna Harvey, said: “Once again students from Northallerton College have been recognised for their passion and commitment to the game.

“Playing at this higher level will not only inspire them but also give them the chance to improve their skills.”
