School chefs are getting ready to give children across the county a taste of tradition and serve up afternoon tea to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

North Yorkshire County Caterers, which runs the county council’s school meals service, holds regular training sessions for school chefs around the county and special sessions to prepare for the Diamond Jubilee are taking place. They include cup cake decorating and presentation, piping skills and creating different types of sponge.

County Coun Arthur Barker, North Yorkshire’s Executive Member for Schools said: “Many of our schools will want to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee traditionally and we want to make sure our school chefs are ready to make the most of the occasion.”
