A 52-year-old school teacher is saddling up for a 1,000-mile bike ride to raise funds for Help for Heroes.

Risedale Sports and Community College ICT manager Gary Lamont will be joined by a team of 25 young cyclists, as well as his daughter Beth, 13, and wife Penny, 48, to tackle the strenuous Land’s End to John O’Groats ride which is also raising money for St Teresa’s Hospice in Darlington.

The mammoth 15-day trek is being supported by the British Army who will be providing accommodation for the riders along the journey.
