Space mission for children

Willow Tree Primary pupils met British astronaut Tim Peake at a convention where he talked about his journey to the International Space Station.

Over 400 schoolchildren attended the event at the University of York where the Harrogate school presented work to other schoolchildren.

“We sang a song about our rocket science work,” said a Willow Tree spokesman.

“The highlight, of course, was shaking hands with Tim Peake. He spent a long time talking to each child and we talked about what kind of food he enjoyed on ISS.”

“He said fresh tomatoes and oranges were a great treat and were sometimes sent up.”
