Ten teams of school students have signed up for a technology competition organised to coincide with the arrival of the Tour de France in Harrogate.
Four le Tour, organised by Knaresborough-based GSPK Design Ltd, will see teams of four competing to design the best gadget which would help riders to be more successful in the Tour de France.
The teams have been formed by schools across the Harrogate district and beyond, including Rossett and St Aidan’s in Harrogate and King James’s in Knaresborough.
Paul Marsh, MD of GSPK Design, said: “The competition was aimed at encouraging students to think about engineering, product design and manufacturing in the UK and to maybe open their eyes to potential careers while having fun trying to develop a new gadget. I have been so impressed with the response we’ve had so far from the schools which have signed up.”
