CHildren at Stepping Stones Nursery in Ripon enjoyed an unexpected outing when the Yorkshire Air Ambulance landed close to their nursery.

The helicopter touched down in Ripon Spa Park, but with the patient they had been called to see doing well and not needing an air transfer to hospital the paramedics, doctor and pilot spent time chatting to passersby and local residents.

Staff from Stepping Stones brought their pupils to the park in time to say hello to paramedic Sammy Wills and even climb inside the helicopter – a ‘courtesy car’ the ambulance team was using while its regular aircraft was being repaired.
