The magnificent setting of the city’s cathedral was the venue for Outwood Academy Ripon’s Year 8 graduation ceremony.
Excited students, capped and gowned, demonstrated pride in their achievements as they were presented with their scrolls by the Mayor of Ripon, Coun Mick Stanley, on Wednesday, July 9.
The Mayor spoke of the uniqueness of the occasion and that it was “great to celebrate achievement”.
Following the ceremony, Outwood students walked down the nave aisle to the western entrance to huge applause from gathered parents, staff and guests. Then, in true academic tradition, they threw their caps into the air once outside the building.
The ceremony was followed by afternoon tea for parents, students and guests.
