A SCHOOLGIRL from Ripon has won a competition to design a menu for this month’s Royal wedding.

Vienna Saine, aged seven, of Greystone Primary School, was one of around 300 pupils from across the county who entered the contest, organised by North Yorkshire County Caterers.

Her menu for Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding on Friday, April 29, featured Chicken a la King with Duchess potatoes followed by wedding cake.

It was one of just six entries to be declared a winner in the competition.

She was presented with a certificate and prize to mark her win by Herbie the Carrot - NYCC’s healthy eating champion, cook Janet Thomas and Greystone School cook Jean Bland.
